France since the 1960s, the Aquitaine is a prime destination for pursuit of thalassotherapy. Thalassotherapie, translated to mean sea water cure, was discovered by a Tour de
France cyclist who healed from his injuries by sea water in his home of Brittany. Today, there are numerous thalassotherapy treatment centers in the Aquitaine, which has become a bit of an epicenter of thalassotherapy.

Tourists can visit the ruins of Cathar strongholds, and villages where crusaders conducted massacres with a trip to the beautiful and history-rich Cathar Country.
Have you ever landed in a town during your travels, and immediately thought, “I did not plan nearly long enough time here.” That was definitely my experience when I hit St-Jean-de-Luz, which wasn’t even a destination I was particularly excited about seeing. But wow. It’s just damn pretty and charming, and it has a cozy sandy beach, fab covered produce market, and year-round surfing. Oh, and there’s the food.
