Test Drive of A Full Cup Coupon Site

Posted in: featured, food, parenting

OK, so straight up, I am not a coupon clipper. I like the idea of it, and from time to time I’ve bought papers and cut them up. But from week to week, I just don’t have time to do that clipping and organizing. But then, you know, five humans and four pets and a crappy economy came along. So now this foodie is thinking it’s time to get my crazy, out of control grocery budget under control. You know, so I can pay the mortgage.

So when Katja Presnal mentioned doing a test drive of the couponing site, A Full Cup, I was much more intrigued than I normally would be. She sent along a $50 American Express card, and I decided to see if I could really buy groceries with that. I seriously can’t remember the last time I spent so little at the store. If you read my previous grocery shopping post about my reverse shopping list, you know this is something that’s been concerning me.

What happened? Well, watch and see…

Hey kelby, I haven’t been around your blog lately, but I do see some cool things you have done since then. What blogs are you mainly working on these days? I would love to get you as a guest blogger or guest blog for you sometime.

I hope all is well, talk to you soon.

That was very interesting, but I am just not a coupon person either. With 3 little boys (and the million other things in my life) I just don’t have time for it. LOL!

Did you figure in the ink and paper costs? LOL!

Make the time to clip – I average about a 35% savings each trip. I keep a spreadsheet each month with what I spent and how much I saved. The savings then go into our vacation fund. And I try to do major shopping every other week. Last week spent $197, but had $68 in coupons. Even the grocery checkers are impressed.

I spend about 2 hours a week clipping and do it in the evenings while watching t.v. or during lunch break at work.
